Passage 70 - TaoTeChing Study Project

Po Yuen Taoist Society
TaoTeChing Study Project - Passage 70

Passage 70

The words in Tao Te Ching about “Everything under the Cosmos or People’s behaviour and functions are created by ‘Tao’ and nurtured by ‘Te’” are easy to understand, easy to practice. Because people do not understand them, no one can practice it.

The words in each passage demonstrate a principle in detail using historical examples or metaphors to extend the discussion to explain another phenomenon. In dealing with people and issues, it must involved principles for the development of a positive mindset and must not deviate from the reality of the issue.

Because people do not understand this philosophy which everyone needs to know, therefore, they do not understand how to gain insights into Tao.

Those who understand the Tao are few. Thus, Tao Te Ching is highly valued as those practising this philosophy are very few.

Therefore, good leaders may look plain and unsophisticated but hold valuable knowledge and abilities.
